Tool Measure
When a tool measurement is called for during a tool change or with the Measure Tool macro, a tool setter touch-off routine is performed. The spindle moves into position above the tool setter as defined in the Tool Setter Position section. From there it will probe toward the tool setter at the Seek Feed rate. Upon contact with the tool setter, it will perform a probe away from the tool setter at the Set Feed rate until contact with the tool setter is broken. The Z machine coordinate position is then recorded as the tool length offset in the tool table for the current tool and the offset is applied using G43 H[tool]
where [tool]
is the current tool number.
Profile Section
This section defines the feed rates used in the tool measurement routine. Tool measurement is a standard part of the ATC process, but is disabled by default when a profile is first created. It can be useful to establish the tool change process first, and then add in tool measurement when setting up your profile after magazine installation.
Fields
This section contains two editable fields: Seek Feed and Set Feed. Clicking on either of the fields will enable editing.
When you are satisfied, click to save your changes or
to discard.
Seek Feed
Feed rate for the initial tool measurement probe toward the tool setter.
Set Feed
Feed rate for the secondary tool measurement probe away from the tool setter.
Options
Disable
When disabled, tool measurement will not be performed during a tool change and the Measure Tool (mfunc52.mac) macro will not be generated.
